After 24 hours of racing and a record-breaking 742 laps, Steven Odendaal, together with the factory BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, claimed the FIM EWC 2026 World Championship title at the Bol d’Or.

The #37 BMW M 1000 RR started the 2026 Bol d’Or from pole position. The bike was shared by Markus Reiterberger, Michael van der Mark, and 4SR rider Steven Odendaal. Together they completed a record-breaking 742 laps during the race.

The team crossed the finish line just one lap ahead of their closest rival, securing the FIM EWC World Championship by a margin of only four points. This marks BMW Motorrad’s first-ever title, and also the first championship title in the series’ history won by a European motorcycle manufacturer.

The victory carried extra significance, as it was on this very circuit that the team lost their shot at the title in 2025 due to a technical issue with less than thirty minutes left in the race. One year later, they returned to Circuit Paul Ricard and finished what they had started.
