Patented Knee Protector Mount For 4SR Motorcycle Jeans
There are plenty of manufacturers making motorcycle jeans. Most use denim reinforced at exposed areas with kevlar or aramid fabric.
Some come with knee protectors of varying quality inserted into pockets. The problem with a protector that's simply dropped into a pocket in the lining or outer material is that it doesn't wrap around the knee and shin — it sits loose and easily slides out of place in a crash.
That's why 4SR For Street Racing, the only Czech company to do so, developed and patented a solution that made things safer for every rider.
The idea
As most riders already sense, a protector only works if it stays exactly where it needs to protect. Just like in a race suit, where protectors are fixed at the knee so they can't shift in a crash. As a manufacturer of race suits widely used in BSB (the most dangerous race series in the world), we know safety inside and out. So we designed and patented an elastic inner leg that holds the protector in place at the knee and shin, and built it into our brand's kevlar jeans.
Why the knee?
Riding without knee protectors is a mistake. Anyone who's ever gone down on their knee will confirm that. Skipping knee protectors because you're "just riding around town in kevlar jeans, taking it easy" doesn't hold up — city riding means kerbs and obstacles everywhere.
Statistics show a hard impact to the knee and shin area occurs in more than 80% of crashes. The knee deserves our full attention, and it needs to be protected with the best available means.
How it all works
It's no small task — finding a way to protect the knee and make sure it stays protected even in extreme situations.
Ordinary kevlar jeans either skip the protector entirely or just drop one loosely into the leg. Both amount to the same result. Height can sometimes be adjusted relative to the knee, but nothing holds it in place side to side. So it usually shifts up above the knee with the trouser leg the moment you get on the bike, and in a crash it can end up anywhere — except where it's actually needed.
4SR jeans offer a better solution. The protector sits inside an inner elastic leg that wraps around the knee and calf, holding the protector exactly where it should be. The protector is also height-adjustable, so if you've struggled with protector fit because of your height, these are the trousers that solve that properly. This combines the best available protectors with an intelligent mounting system.
The best protectors
Experience from the racetrack has taught us that quality, ergonomically shaped protectors are the foundation. That's why we won't have you riding in flat protectors, which simply have no place in any protective gear. We use protectors from the Italian company Safe-Tech here, which meet the LEVEL 2 standard, including at elevated temperatures (T+). Worth knowing: a protector that only meets Level 1 can be as much as 120% weaker than a Level 2 protector.
The result
No other jeans on the market offer this level of protection. That's why we're confident that 4SR kevlar jeans are the best motorcycle jeans on the market when it comes to knee protection.
